Uncertainty
over state financial support and pension reform make for trying times at the
University of Illinois and other campuses across the state.
Of
immediate concern is pension reform, which is roiling the UI campus now. The
pension reform bill passed by the General Assembly last December takes effect
June 1 and affects everyone covered by the State Universities Retirement
System, as well as four other state pension systems, but is most pressing for
senior faculty and staff members who soon need to make decisions on whether to
stay or retire by June 30, the end of the fiscal year." READ
